Spain Mission Temple Reunion Committee 26 July Highlands Court Lafayette, CA 94549 Dear Campanero, We are pleased to announce that the dedication of the Madrid Spain Temple has been set for March 20 and 21, 1999. This event will draw members from all over Spain and former missionaries from many parts of the world. We invite you to join your companions of old and those special Spanish members for this glorious occasion. Although there will be plenty of opportunity for fun and sightseeing, this reunion is also intended to continue the dedication to gospel service which characterized the Spain Mission. We want to reach out to all of our former companions, some of whom are not active. Similarly, we will work to contact Spanish members to let them know that their "special' missionaries are returning. We expect that this will reactivate some that have gotten lost along the way. The Temple will be open for public viewing from February 20 to March 20 . However, as a result of discussions held at the Mission Reunion in Salt Lake City in October, we decided to focus our activities around the dedication instead of the open house. This was done to create the greatest opportunity to see members from all the cities of Spain, not just those from Madrid. The schedule for the Spain Mission Reunion is as follows: Friday March 19 - Dinner and reception for missionaries at Cuatro Caminos chapel Saturday March 20 - Daytime -Sightseeing tours in and around Madrid. Evening reception with Spanish members at Cuatro Caminos chapel Sunday March 21. Attend a Temple dedication session. We are working to get tickets to accommodate as many as possible into one of the four dedicatory sessions scheduled for that day. We are working on getting a group discount for one or more hotels in Madrid close to a Metro stop. More information will be available by January 15. We have arranged for a special airfare rate for reunion participants. This arrangement allows you to pick the time and location of your departure, but still get a group discount. We caution you to carefully compare this rate with other special rates that may be available on other carriers from your destination. There are a limited number of seats available at this rate so we urge you to make your reservations immediately. To participate in the group discount read the attached description of services and contact: Salt Lake Travel Service 50 South Main Street Suite 410 Salt Lake City, Utah 84114 800-365-3514 We have not yet determined the costs of the dinner and reception, but you should reserve about $50 per person for these activities. For your convenience we intend to arrange several group tours in or outside Madrid on Friday and Saturday, but these are optional and at additional cost. More information on these functions will be available later. If you plan to go, it is very important that we received your response no later than January 15. We are working hard to get tickets for the Temple dedication, and need to have a final count. Please mail back the attached response form! Also don't forget to renew your temple recommend before the trip because a current temple recommend will be required to attend the dedicatory sessions. To keep you up to date, we will be making more frequent postings to the Spain Mission Temple Reunion Web page http://members.tripod.com/~bbosen/spain.htm Also, please use email jmuir@compuserve.com for questions. Please use the holidays to contact your former companions and encourage them to attend. Many of us are planning to visit the cities where we served, and it's more fun with friends. Also, this would be a good time to look at your missionary journal and make a list of the people you wish to see. We hope to be able to get this information to Spanish members in advance. Again, we are looking forward to seeing you and your family for this memorable event. Saludos! John R. Muir Chairman Spain Mission Temple Reunion Committee
